A little bit about me.
No, I don’t usually show up at a wedding like this. This was just a fun run. And yes, my hair is always hopelessly messy.
I’m Erika. I love capturing moments, listening to all stories and re-telling them through my lens. I’m an enthusiast by nature and I like to think that my photos reflect the same emotions I felt.
My style is documentary, natural, candid, with a small mix of posed photos.
I fell in love with holding a camera when I was at University and studied Photography as part of my degree. I practiced first with my travels, documenting each trip, while discovering new lands and cultures. I just wanted to come back and tell everything about them, about what I saw and what were my emotions.
I’ve been taking photos professionally for almost a decade now. Still love every single bit of it.
Why “Woodland Stories”?
It felt important to me to add the word ‘story’ to my business name. I don’t take ‘just photos’. I capture moments and emotions. I tell stories through them. I live in the “Hills” (the beautiful Dandenong ranges, just outside Melbourne), so being immersed in the green of a natural world is certainly a big part of me.
Collaborations
I don’t always work alone!
At times, you’ll find me at Atti.co Melbourne, working side to side with the beautiful Silvia, from HiSylvia Photography.
I’m always open to new collaborations and exciting projects!
Fun facts about me:
I’m an avid gardener. Or, as many like to point out, I’m an old lady at heart. I spend my free time with my hands in the dirt and I relax by the coonara with a good book and my dog snoring near me. What’s wrong with that?
Despite my hair being a total mess most days, I have a perfect streak of white hair, at the front, on my left-hand side. Something like Mr Sheffield in “The Nanny”. Possibly the most fashionable part of me.
I love dogs. So much so that I even ended up dogsitting for one of my clients. Loved every bit of it. Yes, she was just a client. Found me through my website asked me to take some photos. Then contacted me to see if I could do dogsitting too. Needless to say, she is a friend now. I also have a cocker spaniel. His name is Coffee.
I’m Italian. I grew up along the beautiful Lake Como, near the Swiss alps. I moved to Melbourne when I was 21. Now I call the Dandenong Ranges my ‘other Home’.
I can’t stand raw tomatoes, but I’m perfectly fine with a cooked pasta sauce.
